Working closely with Bailey Partnership Architects and Cowlin Construction, 4Runner assisted with the design and subsequent installation of the Mondotrack surface to the Llandarcy Academy of Sport that is also the training facility for the Ospreys Rugby Club.
Mondotrack surface was selected for the 6 lane indoor track due to its IAAF credentials and Olympic pedigree. This surface has been used at the last 9 Olympic Games as the official athletic track surface. The characteristics that make this surface ideal for any athlete is the shock absorption, vertical deformation, lateral support, high energy return, low foot pressure and greater contact area. Constructed using the latest moulded and vulcanisation processes, the natural rubber is strong and does not deposit rubber granules with use. The directional hexagon honeycomb backing makes the track more elastic and responsive, which improves the athlete’s performance as well as providing lateral support during the rolling movement of the foot.
