4Runner Sport Surfaces worked closely with Aspire defence to assist in selecting the most appropriate surface for the Gym area in the new Intermediate Care Facility At Bulford Camp. The Gym area was to house various gym equipment from Cardio Vascular machines though to weight machines and free weights on racks and bars. To the main area, 10mm thick Mondo Ramflex dense rubber sheet was selected and installed in Red colour.
Ramflex is a double-layered vulcanized rubber sport surface with a hammered finish. The combination of two layers with different densities enables Ramflex to resist the wear of various sports equipment with high point loading at their support points while providing optimal shock absorption and energy return for the users.
To the free weight area, 30mm thick Rubber Ever-Multi-tile was laid over the Mondo Ramflex to provide additional protection from the weights. The tiles are 1m x 0.5m in size and are locked together by dowels, to the exposed edges rubber ramp detail was installed for easy transition. As these tiles are not adhered to the base, the free weight area can be moved to allow for any configuration in the gym.
