Main Sports Hall
Having worked closely with the Priory Learning Trust and GLDM Consultants previously, 4Runner were selected to carry out the refurbishment of Worle Community School Indoor Sports Facilities.
The main sports hall, which consisted of a painted tarmac floor surface, stained blockwork walls and a steel profile roof, was not a particularly nice arena for sport and due to the very poor sound acoustics in the hall, teaching a class of students was almost impossible. The hall was completely redecorated with improvements made to the walls by removing finger traps and dangerous projections from the wall as well as construction of a new partition separating the changing facilities. The wall and floor colours were selected from Sport England Guidance to improve the playing of various sports but mainly Badminton. To the ceiling and walls, sound reduction panels were installed following sound calculations to reduce the sound reverberation within the hall to allow successful teaching to take place. The existing solid floor was adjusted to improve its flatness and a heavy duty Damp Proof Membrane system was laid which isolated the new floor from the damp existing base. Onto this an Area Elastic Sprung Floor system was installed, the 4Runner Sports Surfaces System K finished in Multi-use Sport Linoleum, colour Avocado Green. All new Sports equipment was supplied and installed including all new floor fixing sockets.
The existing smaller Gym also needed attention, the old fashion wall bar systems were removed including all the floor fixings. The walls were redecorated along with the wood woodwork
The existing Maple Strip Floor was repaired in several areas and then sanded and sealed with Bona Sportive.
All of this work was undertaken by 4Runner Sport Surfaces and completed well within the school summer recess period ready for the new academic year.
